Position Description

This position involves specialized postdoctoral work in planning, conducting, and supervising original research. The successful candidate will participate in a research project associated with their Ph.D. studies and contribute to the interpretation and publication of research results. Work is conducted under the supervision of graduate faculty members and evaluated based on the accomplishment of objectives and overall project effectiveness. The role may also include supervision of research and student assistants.


Major/Essential Functions

The primary responsibility of this position is to manage and perform research related to the BASF Project Revolution grant. Specific duties include:

  • Planning, conducting, and/or supervising original research such as uncertainty quantification for deep learning models, cotton growth models, and human plot ratings.

  • Managing technical aspects of the project, including reporting, collaboration with internal and external project teams, and communication with program sponsors.

  • Assisting with the management of an environmental chemistry laboratory.

  • Mentoring and collaborating with graduate and undergraduate students.

  • Publishing research findings in high-quality journals.

  • Developing proposal writing skills.


Required Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in a relevant area of specialization.

  • Knowledge of modern research practices, methods, and standards.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize objectives and exercise independent judgment.

  • Ability to integrate resources, policies, and information to determine procedures and solutions.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with colleagues and the public.

  • Capability to plan and allocate workloads, providing supervision and training when needed.

This position involves access to critical infrastructure systems and/or research as defined by Texas Executive Order GA-48. Candidates must successfully complete a comprehensive background check prior to employment. Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with image data processing.

  • Proven track record of peer-reviewed publications.
