General Job Summary
Under limited supervision, the Continuing Education Instructor will facilitate Driver’s Education programs through behind-the-wheel and classroom instruction. The instructor must be familiar with the Iowa Department of Transportation (DOT) curriculum for Driver’s Education and deliver training that meets or exceeds state standards.
This position requires providing excellent customer service, fostering a positive and safe learning environment, and maintaining a professional and approachable demeanor throughout all class sessions.

Duties and Responsibilities

Provide behind-the-wheel instruction to students in accordance with state curriculum requirements.

Answer student questions related to driver safety, traffic laws, and driving techniques.

Maintain open and effective communication with students and Continuing Education staff.

Clean and prepare the vehicle before and after each class session.

Deliver course content clearly and ensure that all learning objectives are achieved.

Complete all required reports, attendance records, and documentation as directed.

Provide a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment.

Perform additional duties as assigned by the Continuing Education department.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.

Valid driver’s license.

Secondary teaching license with a Driver’s Education endorsement or Behind-the-Wheel certification.

Availability for flexible work hours, including afternoon and evening shifts.
Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree (four-year degree preferred but not required).

Experience with remote instruction platforms such as Zoom or Google Meet.
