Position Summary
The Dental Hygiene Clinical Adjunct Faculty position is a part-time, semester-based teaching role within the Dental Hygiene Program. Clinical adjunct instructors guide and support dental hygiene students through laboratory and clinical instruction, ensuring they develop the technical and professional competencies needed for success in the field.
FLSA: Non-Exempt
Status: Part-Time
Hours per Week: 25â30
Work Schedule: MondayâWednesday
Compensation: $44.00 per hour
Essential Responsibilities

Provide direct clinical and laboratory instruction to dental hygiene students.

Review patient medical histories and provide medical/dental referrals when necessary.

Evaluate patient charting for restorative needs and radiographs for potential pathology.

Assist students in maintaining accurate and complete patient records.

Serve as a subject resource for oral pathology and clinical procedures.

Participate in lab instruction for radiology, dental materials, or oral anatomy as assigned.

Advise and support students academically, tracking progress toward course objectives.

Submit evaluations, reports, and documentation accurately and on time.

Attend departmental, calibration, and program meetings.

Maintain professional conduct and positive relationships with students, faculty, and staff.

Perform additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
-
Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) with a Masterâs Degree in Dental Hygiene from a regionally accredited institution.
OR-
Bachelorâs Degree in Dental Hygiene with five or more years of clinical experience.

Minimum five (5) years of clinical experience.

Minimum three (3) years of teaching experience preferred.

Licensed to practice dental hygiene in the State of Maryland.

Authorized to administer local anesthesia and monitor nitrous oxide per Maryland law.

Familiarity with ADA Accreditation Standards and Maryland dental hygiene regulations.

Current CPR/BLS certification.

Current dental radiology license.
Preferred Experience
-
Teaching experience in higher education with knowledge of educational theory and practice.

Experience in curriculum development and accreditation procedures for dental hygiene programs.

Chairside assisting, infection control, sterilization, dental radiology, and laboratory techniques.

Experience using Dentrix dental software and Dexis digital radiography.
-
Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) background is a plus.
-
Member of the American Dental Hygienistsâ Association (ADHA).
