Taft College invites applications for the Adjunct Faculty Pool in the Dental Hygiene Baccalaureate Program (DNTL 4075). We are seeking dedicated, student-centered educators to join our outstanding team of faculty and staff committed to delivering high-quality programs and services to students.

Teaching assignments may be temporary, part-time, or on-call, and may be immediate or as needed (in accordance with Education Code 8748.25). This position contributes to our Spring 2026 semester adjunct faculty pool.


The Opportunity

As an adjunct faculty member, you will teach DNTL 4075 – Capstone Course: Teaching in Dental Hygiene Programs (3 units).

This course is designed to provide dental hygienists with the knowledge, tools, and skills to become effective educators in dental health care. Students will explore teaching methodologies, learning assessment, and curriculum development tailored to dental hygiene education.

A key component of the course includes the design and implementation of a capstone project, focusing on project description, assessment tools, goals, objectives, and activities.

Note: Courses in the baccalaureate completion program are offered asynchronously online.


Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must meet one of the following requirements:

  • Master’s degree in Education, Dental Technology, or a closely related discipline; OR

  • Equivalent qualifications (an Equivalency Request Form may be submitted with the application).

Additionally, applicants must demonstrate:

  • A strong sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.


Desired Qualifications

  • Master’s or Doctoral degree in Dentistry, Education, or a closely related field.

  • Professional experience as a Dental Hygienist.


Compensation

  • Hourly Rate: $77.02 – $90.50 per hour (commensurate with education and experience).
