Position Summary

Cuyahoga Community College seeks qualified adjunct faculty to teach courses in Fire and Emergency Medical Technology at the Western Campus. This is a part-time (adjunct) position. Candidates will be interviewed and hired on an as-needed basis throughout the academic year.

Responsibilities

• Teach a full range of courses in Fire and Emergency Medical Technology.

• Prepare and deliver engaging and effective learning activities to meet course outcomes.

• Develop course materials, including syllabi, handouts, and homework assignments.

• Evaluate and grade students’ coursework, labs, assignments, papers, and exams.

• Maintain and submit student attendance, grades, and related documentation by established deadlines.

• Provide academic coaching and support to students as needed.

• Participate in periodic meetings with supervisors, departmental staff, and college committees related to teaching, training, and development.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree.

• Certified State of Ohio Firefighter II.

• Certified State of Ohio Fire and Emergency Services Instructor II.

• Certified State of Ohio Live Fire Instructor.

• Certified State of Ohio Emergency Medical Technician.

• Minimum of 10 years’ experience as a Firefighter II.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (or equivalent).

• Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

• Excellent organizational abilities.

• Demonstrated sensitivity and ability to work effectively with a diverse population.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Fire Science.

• Master’s degree in any field.

• Previous teaching experience.

Pay Rate: $942.00 per Equated Semester Unit (ESU)
