Position Overview

Harper College invites applications for an Adjunct Instructor to teach MTP 125 – Foundations of Massage Therapy II during the Spring 2026 semester. This course builds on foundational massage therapy skills and introduces advanced approaches such as myofascial release, trigger point therapy, cross-fiber friction, and specific-tissue massage.
Instruction includes both lecture and lab components.

Schedule: Wednesdays, 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
Dates: January 14 – May 13, 2026
Format: In-person instruction


Qualifications

Education Requirements:

  • Required:

    • Current Illinois Massage Therapy License

    • Completion of at least 30 college credit hours beyond massage therapy training (official transcripts required)

  • Preferred:

    • Associate’s degree or higher

    • Board Certification in Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (BCTMB)

Experience Requirements:

  • Required:

    • Minimum of two years of professional massage therapy practice

  • Preferred:

    • Experience with the techniques covered in this course in a clinical setting

    • Prior teaching experience


Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging and effective instruction in both lecture and lab settings.

  • Provide students with timely, constructive feedback through assessments and evaluations.

  • Prepare and facilitate lab activities while ensuring compliance with lab safety standards.

  • Submit required instructional materials, including syllabus, attendance records, and gradebook.

  • Maintain current Illinois Massage Therapist licensure.

  • Utilize existing course materials or develop new content in collaboration with the program coordinator.

  • Support and accommodate students with special needs per College policies.

Additional Information

  • Courses are held in-person on the Palatine campus.

  • Massage Therapy Program courses may be scheduled during day, evening, or Saturday sessions.
