Position Summary

Santa Fe Community College seeks an Adjunct Instructor for the Massage Therapy program. This position is temporary and part-time, focused solely on teaching and instructional responsibilities. Adjunct instructors are appointed on a term basis and are not entitled to reappointment.

Instructors must hold a relevant master’s degree for lower-division courses or a doctoral/terminal degree for upper-division and graduate-level teaching from an accredited or internationally recognized institution. Exceptions may be made based on experience and demonstrated professional expertise.

Adjunct faculty may serve as Faculty Senators only if they are currently teaching or have taught within the past fiscal year.


Duties & Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality instruction to meet the educational needs and learning objectives of students.

  • Teach assigned courses (on-campus or off-campus, day or evening) using approved syllabi, textbooks, and learning materials.

  • Meet all classes regularly and on time for their full duration.

  • Establish clear learning objectives and evaluate student performance accordingly.

  • Serve as an academic advisor when assigned.

  • Maintain office hours and provide additional meeting times as needed.

  • Participate in departmental reviews and curriculum development activities.

  • Continuously assess and improve course content, teaching methods, and instructional materials.

  • Evaluate and recommend support materials for library collections.

  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and other documentation.

  • Arrange appropriate class coverage during absences.

  • Submit grades and required reports promptly.

  • Attend faculty meetings, convocations, and graduation ceremonies as appropriate.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Certificate in Massage Therapy (minimum 650 hours).

  • Two years of professional experience in the related field.

  • 50 hours of teaching experience, as required by the New Mexico Massage Therapy Board.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.

  • Four years of professional experience, including at least one year of teaching, preferably in a community college setting.
