Position Summary

Foothill–De Anza Community College District invites applications for Part-Time Massage Therapy Instructor/Program Coordinator positions.
This is a pool position—applications are accepted continuously and remain active for two years. Candidates will be interviewed and hired on an as-needed basis throughout the academic year.

Please note: The District does not reimburse applicants for travel, lodging, or relocation expenses.

Working Conditions

Environment: Indoor classroom/lab environment
Physical Abilities:

  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching

  • Lifting or carrying materials up to 20 lbs.

  • Dexterity of hands and fingers for instructional tasks

  • Adequate hearing, vision, and communication for classroom and lab settings


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Teach lecture and lab-based massage therapy courses.

  • Evaluate and assess student work; submit grades and reports on time.

  • Participate in faculty evaluations, professional development, and college meetings.

  • Demonstrate expertise in massage therapy, spa, wellness, and alternative medicine.

  • Promote safe and effective use of lab equipment.

  • Develop curriculum, instructional outcomes, and student assessment methods.

  • Use technology creatively in teaching (e.g., online platforms, smart classrooms).

  • Engage students from diverse academic and cultural backgrounds.

  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to improve program effectiveness.

  • As Program Coordinator, oversee budgets, procure materials, manage program review and accreditation documents, and coordinate Advisory Board meetings.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Demonstrated sensitivity to and respect for diverse backgrounds, including cultural, academic, and socio-economic differences.

  • Education & Experience:

    • Option 1: Bachelor’s degree and two (2) years of professional experience, or

    • Option 2: Associate degree and six (6) years of professional experience.

  • Official transcripts (or evaluated international equivalents) required prior to hire.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in a health-related discipline.

  • Two years of recent college-level teaching experience (lecture and lab).

  • Three years of professional massage therapy experience across various settings (spa, chiropractic, hospital, or athletic).

  • Up-to-date knowledge of complementary and alternative medicine (CAM), wellness, and spa therapies.


Salary Range

Placement is based on verified education and experience.
