Position Overview

Massasoit Community College is seeking dedicated and skilled Adjunct Non-Credit Phlebotomy Technician Instructors to teach in its Continuing Education Division. This position is part-time and based on course demand and enrollment levels.

The instructor will prepare and deliver didactic and laboratory instruction that aligns with national Phlebotomy Technician certification standards. Ideal candidates will demonstrate expertise in phlebotomy procedures, a commitment to student learning, and the ability to create an engaging, inclusive classroom environment.

This role reports to the Associate Dean of Community Education and involves evening or weekend classes during the Spring and Summer 2026 semesters.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality instruction in phlebotomy theory and practice.

  • Provide education and demonstrations on:

    • The role of a phlebotomist

    • Medical terminology

    • Anatomy and physiology (with emphasis on the circulatory system)

    • Blood components and collection procedures

    • Pre-analytical specimen processing and handling

    • Infection control and universal precautions

    • Use and assembly of blood collection equipment

    • Disposal of biohazardous materials

    • Phlebotomy clerical duties and state requirements

  • Facilitate clinical simulations and real-world practice scenarios.

  • Supervise and guide students during hands-on lab sessions.

  • Promote compliance with HIPAA, emphasizing legal, ethical, and professional standards.

  • Maintain accurate attendance, participation, and grading records.

  • Provide timely feedback and support student academic and career growth.

  • Participate in instructor orientations, required training, and periodic check-ins with division staff.

  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure compliance with college policies and procedures.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Valid Phlebotomy Technician Certification (CPT).

  • High school diploma or GED.

  • At least three (3) years of clinical experience performing phlebotomy in an accredited healthcare setting.

  • Minimum two (2) years of experience teaching or training adult learners from diverse backgrounds (or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience).

  • Familiarity with phlebotomy curriculum aligned with nationally recognized standards.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 and familiarity with learning management systems.

  • Ability to evaluate student performance and provide constructive feedback.

  • Strong communication, organizational, and classroom management skills.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate degree or higher in a healthcare or allied health discipline.

  • Experience with online or hybrid teaching methods.

  • Multilingual fluency in Spanish, French, Portuguese, French Creole, or Cape Verdean Creole.

  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

  • Excellent interpersonal and technological skills.


Position Details

  • Status: Adjunct/Part-Time (non-benefitted)

  • Schedule: Weekday evenings (5:30 PM – 9:00 PM) or weekends, up to 18 hours/week

  • Worksite: Brockton, Canton, or Middleborough campuses (in-person only)

  • Compensation: $40 per hour

  • Semester: Spring and Summer 2026
