Position Summary

The Health and Public Services Department at ACC invites applications for part-time Instructors to teach in the Medical Assistant and Medical Office Technology Programs.

This posting will fill multiple adjunct vacancies at both the Littleton Campus and the Sturm Collaboration Campus in Castle Rock. Instructors may also teach online or hybrid courses.

Note: Finalists must establish Colorado as their primary workplace, including for online instruction.


Key Responsibilities

Adjunct Instructors at ACC are responsible for delivering high-quality education and fostering student success. Major duties include:

Instruction

  • Teach assigned courses in Medical Assisting and Medical Office Technology.

  • Meet all scheduled class periods, starting and ending on time.

  • Provide a complete syllabus before the first day of class, outlining objectives, grading policies, and contact information.

  • Use approved curriculum materials and technology tools, including ACC’s learning management system Desire2Learn (D2L).

Student Assessment

  • Maintain accurate grading records and submit final grades by deadlines using Banner.

  • Provide prompt, consistent feedback on assignments and exams.

Course Planning

  • Prepare for each class and incorporate effective teaching strategies for diverse learning styles.

  • Align lessons and assessments with course objectives.

Communication

  • Use the official ACC email for all correspondence.

  • Check and respond to emails at least every 24–48 hours during the term and one week after grades are submitted.


Required Qualifications

  • Associate degree in a related field AND a current industry-recognized certification (CMA, RMA, NCMA, or CCMA);
    OR
    Five years of non-teaching occupational experience in Medical Assisting, including:

    • Two years in clinical general practice, and

    • Two years within the last five years,
      AND a current certification such as CMA, RMA, NCMA, or CCMA.

  • Experience teaching or training in Medical Office Technology or Medical Assisting.

  • Strong commitment to supporting students from diverse backgrounds, including historically marginalized groups.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Demonstrated growth mindset and dedication to professional development.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Proven ability to facilitate equitable outcomes and foster inclusivity.

  • Experience collaborating with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Background in remote or online teaching and course design.

  • Experience defining assessment objectives and setting high academic standards.

  • Leadership or active participation in professional organizations or committees.


Compensation

This is a Lecture/Lab (LLB) position paid per credit hour:

  • Level 1: $1,472.16

  • Level 2: $1,546.48

  • Level 3: $1,618.23

New hires not currently teaching within the Colorado Community College System (CCCS) will begin at Level 1. Current CCCS instructors may be placed at their existing pay level.
