Summary

The Adjunct Medical Assistant Instructor will instruct and facilitate meaningful learning that aligns with course outcomes in the curriculum. This position supports a learning-centered environment, enabling graduates to meet the evolving demands of the healthcare industry.

Faculty are expected to promote a culture that values mutual respect, diversity, lifelong learning, and ethics. The instructor will ensure that South University’s philosophy — quality service, growth, innovation, and collaboration — is integrated into all teaching and professional duties.

This is an on-campus position (not remote).

Job Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in a health-related field (preferably Nursing, Physician Assistant, or Healthcare Management).

  • Certification: Current CMA, RMA, or CCMA certification required.

  • Experience:

    • Clinical and administrative medical office experience, including billing and coding.

    • Minimum of six months of post-secondary teaching experience (preferred).

    • Membership in a professional healthcare or education association (preferred).

    • Knowledge of best practices in medical assisting and healthcare education.

  • Skills:

    • Strong communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.

    • Excellent time management, organization, and attention to detail.

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS).

Additional Requirements

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

  • Ability to work flexible hours and maintain required office hours.

  • Must complete New Faculty Orientation and other mandatory trainings.

  • Ability to perform all essential duties in a standard educational environment.
