Description
Applications for part-time adjunct instructor pools are accepted continuously unless otherwise specified. Applicants will be added to the instructor pool for review by hiring authorities on an as-needed basis. Qualified candidates may be invited for interviews by a district representative.
SWCCD is currently seeking part-time instructors to teach a variety of Medical Billing and Coding courses, including:

MEDOP 21: Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) Coding
Focuses on CPT coding guidelines and application of rules to code patient services. Covers coding conventions, principles, regulatory guidance, and software usage. -
MEDOP 22: International Classification of Diseases (ICD-CM) Coding
Focuses on ICD-CM coding guidelines and rules for patient diagnoses and procedures. Emphasizes accuracy of diagnostic groupings and compliance with coding regulations.
Classes are conducted face-to-face on weekdays at the National City Higher Education Center campus.
Minimum Qualifications

Any bachelor's degree or higher and two years of professional experience,

Any associate degree and six years of professional experience.

Professional experience must be directly related to the teaching assignment. It is also required for applicants with a master’s degree.
Applicants with foreign degrees must have their coursework evaluated by a NACES-member evaluation service and submit a copy of the evaluation with the application.
Desired Qualifications

Associate or bachelor’s degree in Health Information Technology, Medical Billing and Coding, or Medical Assisting.

Minimum two years of experience in CPT and ICD-CM coding.

Teaching experience is preferred but not required.
