Summary
York County Community College (YCCC), a dynamic institution with over 30 years of experience transforming lives and communities across York County, Maine, is seeking a qualified and experienced Lead Medical Assistant Clinical Instructor to join its Industry Training Division.
This position involves delivering instruction through YCCC’s short-term, earn-and-learn apprenticeship program, designed to prepare students for the Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) certification exam and for immediate employment in healthcare settings.

The ideal candidate will be experienced in medical assisting education or clinical practice, dedicated to hands-on learning, and passionate about helping students grow professionally. The instructor will collaborate with YCCC’s Industry Training Division to deliver relevant, engaging training aligned with both student and employer needs.
Duties and Responsibilities

Deliver engaging, hands-on instruction two days per week in person, with additional online coursework support.

Teach and evaluate program competencies aligned with CCMA certification requirements.

Document and communicate student progress and competency achievement with YCCC’s medical partners.

Collaborate with employer partners to support the apprenticeship earn-and-learn model.

Provide mentorship and guidance to students in classroom and clinical settings.

Ensure compliance with YCCC’s Industry Training Division and apprenticeship policies.

Participate in orientation, training, and evaluation meetings as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
-
Current or recent certification/licensure as a Medical Assistant (CCMA, CMA (AAMA), or equivalent).

Minimum of three years of professional experience as a Medical Assistant or in a related clinical role.

Strong communication, documentation, and organizational skills.

Commitment to student success and partnership with local employers.
Other Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Prior teaching or training experience in higher education, workforce development, or healthcare settings.

Experience with competency-based instruction or apprenticeship programs.

Bachelor’s degree or higher in a healthcare or education-related field.
