Position Summary

The Adjunct Faculty member is responsible for effectively teaching assigned classes and maintaining scheduled office hours for student consultation and support.


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills to effectively interact with students and colleagues.

  • Proven ability to work successfully with diverse populations through experience or training.

  • Strong commitment to providing high-quality customer service.


Physical Requirements

  • May be required to lift and move materials or equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.


Minimum Qualifications

  • For credit classes transferable toward a higher degree: Master’s degree or higher and at least 18 graduate hours in the teaching discipline.

  • For workforce education degree or certificate courses: A combination of academic preparation and three (3) years of direct or related work experience outside of teaching.

  • For developmental courses: Bachelor’s degree or higher in the specific teaching discipline with demonstrated competency (teaching experience, honors, graduate coursework, or other related achievements).

  • Bilingual or multilingual candidates preferred.

  • Official transcripts required at the time of interview.

  • Subject to background and fingerprint checks.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide students with a detailed written course syllabus.

  • Participate in evaluating and enhancing instructional methods to improve learning outcomes.

  • Recommend textbooks, materials, curriculum revisions, and teaching assignments when appropriate.

  • Maintain accurate and complete course and student records.

  • Collaborate with the division dean and colleagues to achieve departmental goals.

  • Demonstrate commitment to inclusive and collaborative teaching practices.

  • Participate in student advising and registration.

  • Utilize technology to support instruction, maintain records, and communicate effectively.

  • Adhere to Dallas College board policies, state/federal regulations, and the student code of conduct.

  • Engage in professional responsibilities such as committee work, planning, and budgeting.

  • Attend and participate in commencement exercises, required college meetings, and performance appraisals.

  • Work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.

  • May advise student clubs or organizations.

  • Represent the College in community outreach and marketing activities.

  • Complete required professional development hours each academic year.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support the mission and goals of Dallas College.
