General Description
Provide classroom instruction to non-credit students in Medical Coding. This position prepares students for employment as Medical Coders and to successfully pass the Certified Professional Coder (CPC) exam offered by the American Association of Professional Coders (AAPC).
In collaboration with staff members, the instructor will perform instructional and reporting requirements as directed by the Director. This is a part-time position, and off-campus work within Union County may be required.
Characteristics, Duties, and Responsibilities

Provide Medical Coding instruction including Anatomy and Physiology and Medical Terminology.

Communicate class content clearly to ensure learning, skill development, and student motivation.

Prepare students for employment and for the CPC certification exam.

Teach coding principles using the CPT®, ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS Level II code books.

Prepare and enter grades and Participation Evaluation Reports (PERS) in the CEWD database.

Conduct required assessments and respond to program requests.

Complete assignments that support CEWD’s contractual goals.

Travel to campuses and satellite locations as needed.

Perform other duties as assigned by the Director and CEWD administration.

Maintain professionalism and confidentiality at all times.

Keep daily attendance records.

Ability to teach remote live classes.
Education Requirements

Minimum: High School Diploma.
-
Preferred: Associate Degree in a healthcare-related field.

Required Certifications:
-
Certified Professional Coder (CPC)

AAPC Approved Instructor Certificate

Experience: Minimum five (5) years of relevant experience in the medical field.
Experience
-
Knowledge of healthcare industry regulations such as HIPAA, False Claims Act, Fair Debt Collections Act, and Stark Law.

Experience using remote-live instructional platforms.

Strong computer, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
