Organizational Function and Responsibilities

The Adjunct Instructor will teach courses in the Healthcare Receptionist and Medical Billing Specialist programs, helping students develop essential administrative, technical, and communication skills for medical office environments. Responsibilities include:

  • Developing a relevant and progressive curriculum.

  • Designing and implementing effective teaching and learning strategies.

  • Delivering high-quality instruction through face-to-face, online, or hybrid formats.

  • Assessing student learning and providing timely feedback.

  • Advising students on academic and career development.

  • Participating in department and college service activities.


Essential Duties

  • Teach courses such as:

    • Medical Language for the Business Professional 1 & 2

    • Medical Administrative Procedures

    • Specialized Insurance Claims

  • Develop instructional plans and alternative delivery strategies (hybrid, face-to-face, online).

  • Participate in staff development, in-service meetings, and community engagement events.

  • Advise students on course-related concerns, grades, and academic performance.

  • Maintain accurate student records, evaluate performance, and submit grades promptly.

  • Support students in developing work experience opportunities such as internships, work-study assignments, or team projects.

  • Comply with college policies, procedures, and instructional standards.

  • Demonstrate a commitment to Madison College’s mission, vision, and values.

  • Knowledge of current educational methods and learner-centered instructional strategies.

  • Ability to close achievement gaps across race, gender, and disability.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with diverse student populations.

Minimum Qualifications

Option 1:

  • Master’s degree in Business, Business Administration, Business Education, or a related field.

  • At least 2 years (4,000 hours) of professional experience as a medical administrative professional, medical office manager, or similar position.

Option 2:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Business Administration, Business Education, or a related field.

  • At least 3 years (6,000 hours) of professional experience in a medical administrative professional or related role.


Special Instructions to Applicants

  • This is a pool posting for potential part-time teaching positions.

  • Instructors are hired per course, per semester. Teaching one semester does not guarantee assignment in future semesters.

  • Teaching hours may include day, evening, and weekend classes.
