Job Description
The University of Florida (UF) invites applications for the position of Program Director, Critical Care Paramedic (CCP) Program within the M.E. Rinker, Sr. School of Construction Management. The CCP Program Director provides strategic leadership, academic oversight, and operational management to ensure the programâs success in delivering top-quality education aligned with UFâs standards of excellence.
Responsibilities
Program Leadership and Oversight
-
Provide day-to-day leadership and direction for the CCP Program to achieve enrollment, learning, and completion goals.

Set and implement strategies aligned with departmental and university priorities.

Advise the Director of the Fire and Emergency Services Program on new initiatives, risks, and outcomes.

Establish teaching standards, monitor faculty performance, and ensure consistent instructional quality.
Curriculum and Clinical Development
-
Develop and maintain up-to-date didactic and clinical curriculum meeting state and national certification standards.

Design learning outcomes, lesson plans, syllabi, evaluation rubrics, and clinical criteria.

Coordinate clinical labs, train lab instructors, and ensure safe, high-quality learning environments.

Regularly review licensing and certification requirements to update course content.
Instruction and Assessment

Serve as the primary instructor for the CCP Program.

Deliver engaging didactic and lab sessions, coordinate with UF SimLab and UF Health Shands Hospital for clinical rotations.

Create and evaluate quizzes, exams, and projects, and provide timely student feedback.

Support students through continuous communication and academic guidance.
Faculty and Instructor Coordination
-
Recruit, onboard, and mentor didactic and clinical instructors.

Provide training in curriculum standards, assessment, and safety procedures.

Review instructor performance through observation and student feedback.

Maintain updated staffing plans and ensure adequate coverage for all courses and labs.
Compliance and Risk Management
-
Ensure adherence to UF, state, and federal policies, and all relevant licensing standards.

Maintain all required documentation, safety protocols, and compliance records.

Coordinate background checks, health screenings, and other partner site requirements.
Stakeholder and Partner Relations
-
Serve as the liaison with UF Health Shands Hospital, UF SimLab, and other partner agencies.

Manage clinical placement agreements, educational collaborations, and external relationships.

Represent UF at professional events and promote program visibility and graduate success.
Budget and Resource Management
-
Develop and manage the annual budget, ensuring fiscal responsibility.

Oversee procurement, inventory, and maintenance of lab and instructional equipment.

Monitor expenditures and implement cost-effective practices without compromising quality.
Data, Evaluation, and Continuous Improvement

Track program metrics such as student progress, certification pass rates, and employment outcomes.

Collect feedback to assess and improve curriculum and instruction.

Prepare reports for leadership and external stakeholders.
Work Environment
-
Work takes place across office, classroom, simulation lab, and clinical settings.
-
Role requires periods of standing, walking, lifting, and equipment setup.

Regular hours: MondayâFriday, 8:00 a.m.â5:00 p.m.

Evening, weekend, or extended hours may be required to meet program needs.
Minimum Qualifications
-
Masterâs degree in an appropriate field and at least two years of relevant experience;
OR
Bachelorâs degree in an appropriate field and at least four years of relevant experience. -
Active state and/or national paramedic license in good standing.

Strong written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, and timely decision-making.
-
Valid driverâs license (for travel, if required).
-
Ability to meet partner site requirements (background checks, immunizations, etc.).
Preferred Qualifications
-
Florida State Licensed Paramedic.

Masterâs degree in Education, Emergency Medical Services (EMS), or a comparable discipline.

Graduate of the UF Critical Care Paramedic Program.
Expected Salary
Commensurate with education and experience.
