Job Summary

The Allied Health Department at Arapahoe Community College is accepting applications for part-time Instructors to teach in the EMT Program.

Candidates must be able to teach at both the Littleton Campus and the Sturm Collaboration Campus in Castle Rock. This posting will be used to fill multiple part-time instructor vacancies. Finalists must be willing to make Colorado their primary workplace, including for online courses.


Available Courses

  • EMT Fundamentals: Introduces EMT students to pre-hospital emergency care, including EMS systems, well-being of the EMT, communications, documentation, anatomy, airway management, and patient assessment.

  • EMT Medical Emergencies: Focuses on providing emergency care and transportation for patients with medical emergencies, integrating physical exams, medical history, and pathophysiology.

  • EMT Trauma Emergencies: Teaches students how to assess and manage patients with traumatic injuries, focusing on kinematics, biomechanics, and pathophysiology.

  • EMT Special Considerations: Covers the assessment, treatment, and transportation of special patient populations and situations, including mass casualty incidents, vehicle extrication, air medical support, hazardous materials, and terrorism response.


Responsibilities

Part-time instructors are responsible for instruction, student assessment, and related instructional duties. Delivery methods may include face-to-face, hybrid, and online formats. Classes may occur during days, evenings, or weekends.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Classroom Instruction:

    • Conduct all scheduled classes promptly and maintain attendance records.

    • Teach assigned curriculum using required texts and materials.

    • Provide a detailed syllabus including course objectives, grading policy, and contact details.

    • Use the college’s learning management system (Desire2Learn - D2L) for online components.

  • Student Assessment:

    • Maintain accurate and timely grading records in D2L.

    • Provide consistent feedback to students on their performance and submit final grades on time.

  • Planning:

    • Prepare for each class and use strategies to support diverse learning styles and backgrounds.

    • Ensure class content aligns with course objectives.

  • Communication:

    • Use the official ACC email account for all communication.

    • Respond to student messages within 24–48 hours during the term and for one week after final grades submission.


Qualifications

Required:

  • Current Colorado Paramedic Certification.

  • Experience teaching or training in emergency medical services.

  • Commitment to supporting diverse student populations, including historically marginalized communities.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred:

  • Experience promoting equity and inclusion in educational or professional settings.

  • Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with stakeholders and agencies.

  • Experience teaching online or hybrid courses.

  • Proven ability to create effective assessment and evaluation methods.


Compensation

This is a CTE/lab course position paid per credit hour:

  • Level 1: $1,472.16

  • Level 2: $1,546.48

  • Level 3: $1,618.23

New instructors are typically hired at Level 1. Those currently teaching within CCCS may qualify for their existing level.
