Job Summary

Reporting to the campus department instructional leader, adjunct instructors assist students in their learning process by using all available college resources, materials, and technologies to enhance instruction and support student success.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Performance Requirements

  • Teach assigned classes across various schedules and modalities (Dual Credit, On-Campus, Online, or Weekend College).

  • Accommodate student needs and support institutional expectations.

  • Prepare and deliver instruction following the College Master Syllabus using the approved learning management system (LMS).

  • Communicate regularly with students and college officials.

  • Develop assignments and assessments that measure learning outcomes.

  • Maintain attendance records and certify enrollments by deadlines.

  • Evaluate student performance and provide timely feedback.

  • Submit final grades by the established deadline.

  • Participate in institutional assessments and performance measure initiatives.

  • Accept additional assignments such as dual credit courses as required.


Service Excellence

  • Support the mission, values, and goals of Tarrant County College (TCC).

  • Complete required training and professional development sessions.

  • Follow College policies, procedures, and safety protocols.

  • Maintain regular attendance and adhere to work schedules.


Required Minimum Qualifications

  1. Associate degree or higher* from a regionally accredited institution.

  2. Current National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) certification.

  3. Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT).

  4. Current Texas Medical Board (TMB) Respiratory Care Practitioner license.

  5. Three (3) years of directly related, non-teaching work experience.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Work experience in the discipline or teaching area.

  • Teaching or training experience, including use of active learning techniques.

  • Experience with Dual Credit or Early College High School programs.

  • Previous online teaching experience.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to work collaboratively and think critically.

  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and educational technology tools.

  • Commitment to student-centered learning and pedagogical innovation.

  • Ability to mentor students and engage in professional development.


Physical Demands and Work Environment

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequent sitting, speaking, and use of hands.

  • Occasional standing, walking, or lifting up to 10 pounds.

  • Requires close and distance vision, color vision, and depth perception.

Work Environment:

  • Typically quiet, with occasional exposure to mechanical parts or electrical equipment.
