Position Overview
The School of Respiratory Care Sciences in the College of Health Sciences at Boise State University invites applications for a 9-month open rank/clinical track faculty position, beginning August 15, 2026.
Responsibilities include:

Developing and maintaining an active research program.
-
Teaching (specific load to be determined with the School Director).
-
Mentoring student research.
-
Providing service to the school, college, and university to advance the mission and vision of the program.
Current program strengths and research interests include behavioral sleep medicine, obstructive sleep apnea, neurodegenerative diseases, and big data analysis. Excellent collaboration opportunities exist with St. Lukeās and St. Alphonsus Health Systems within the Boise metro area.
School Overview
The School of Respiratory Care Sciences offers three CoARC-accredited programs:

Entry-Level BSRC Program qualifying students for National Board for Respiratory Care examinations.

Online RRT-to-Bachelor of Science Degree Advancement Program (DAP) for RRTs with an Associateās Degree.

Online MSRC Degree Program for RRTs holding a valid credential and a bachelorās degree.
The School is one of seven within the College of Health Sciences, alongside Nursing, Social Work, Kinesiology, Allied Health Science, Medical Imaging and Radiologic Sciences, and Public & Population Health.

Minimum Qualifications
-
Doctoral degree or M.D./D.O. in a field closely aligned with Respiratory Care (e.g., cardiopulmonary biology, physiology, neuroscience, sleep medicine).

Evidence of potential to establish a research program and secure external funding.
-
Demonstrated excellence in teaching.
Preferred Qualifications
-
Active research in translational science.
-
Proven experience securing extramural research funding.
-
Experience mentoring undergraduate and/or graduate research.
-
Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential.
-
Eligible for or currently holding Idaho licensure in Respiratory Therapy or another relevant clinical field.

Successful completion of at least one NBRC specialty credentialing exam.
