Position Summary

Santa Fe Community College (SFCC) invites applications for the position of Respiratory Care Program Director (PD). This is a 12-month, full-time faculty position responsible for overseeing all administrative and educational aspects of the Respiratory Care Program.

The Program Director will manage fiscal planning, program evaluation, curriculum design, faculty supervision, and accreditation compliance. This role also involves regular student and faculty interaction and participation in college-wide activities. The position includes a comprehensive benefits package.


Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and ensure quality of the Respiratory Care Program.

  • Supervise, mentor, and evaluate department faculty.

  • Recruit, train, and retain qualified instructors.

  • Develop, update, and review respiratory care curriculum.

  • Maintain program assessment and accreditation standards.

  • Manage departmental budget and resources.

  • Coordinate program meetings and advisory committees.

  • Collaborate with clinical affiliates, including outreach and simulation lab support.

  • Lead student recruitment, advising, retention, and placement initiatives.

  • Develop articulation agreements with bachelor completion programs.

  • Promote SFCC’s mission and learning community environment.

Knowledge of:

  • Respiratory care practice and clinical procedures.

  • Adult learning and educational theory.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

  • Standard office schedule with occasional travel and evening/weekend duties.

  • Ability to lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds.

  • Standing 30%, walking 20%, sitting 35%, driving 15%.

Minimum Qualifications

Option 1:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.

  • Seven (7) years of related academic experience.

Option 2:

  • Master’s degree in a related field.

  • Five (5) years of related academic experience.

Plus:

  • Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential and current (or eligible) state license.

  • Minimum four (4) years as an RRT, including two (2) years in clinical respiratory care.

  • At least two (2) years of teaching experience in an accredited respiratory care program (faculty or preceptor role).


Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced certifications (Adult Critical Care, Neonatal/Pediatrics, Pulmonary Function, Sleep Disorders, Home Care, Rehabilitation, etc.).

  • Previous experience as a Program Director or Director of Clinical Education in an accredited program.


Compensation and Benefits

  • Salary Range: $76,580 – $87,823 annually (CS122)

  • Employment Type: Regular, full-time staff position.
