Position Summary

The Full-Time Surgical Technology Faculty member serves as a professional educator, leader, mentor, and facilitator of learning within the Surgical Technology program. This position plays a vital role in fulfilling the institution’s mission, vision, and educational philosophy by providing students with a quality, industry-relevant education.

Faculty members report to the discipline coordinator and/or department chair and are responsible for maintaining academic integrity, supporting student success, and contributing to departmental and institutional initiatives.


Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging and effective instruction in Surgical Technology courses aligned with curriculum standards and accreditation requirements.

  • Serve as a mentor, adviser, and facilitator of learning for students, promoting academic success and professional development.

  • Participate in curriculum development, course assessment, and continuous program improvement.

  • Maintain professional credentials, certifications, and industry knowledge to ensure instructional relevance.

  • Contribute to departmental meetings, college committees, and community engagement activities.

  • Support the mission, vision, and values of the Alamo Colleges District and uphold academic and professional excellence.


Qualifications

Minimum Education & Experience:

  • Associate degree in Surgical Technology and at least three years of documented professional experience in the field.

  • OR three years of documented work experience in Surgical Technology with a commitment to obtain an Associate degree within three years of hire.

Licenses & Certifications:

  • Must hold a current credential in the field of Surgical Technology through a national certification accredited by the National Commission on Certifying Agencies (NCCA), such as The National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA).
