Position Summary

Hillsborough Community College seeks a Full-Time Surgical Technology Instructor to join the Dale Mabry Campus faculty. This role requires a solid foundation in surgical technology practices, strong communication skills, and a commitment to academic excellence and student success.

The instructor will be responsible for delivering didactic, laboratory, and clinical instruction, ensuring that all students receive qualified supervision, effective instruction, and timely evaluation of their progress toward certification requirements.


Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality instruction in core Surgical Technology courses following national curriculum standards.

  • Assess and evaluate student performance, providing clear and constructive feedback.

  • Supervise and support students in clinical settings to ensure the achievement of required competencies.

  • Maintain accurate academic records and ensure compliance with accreditation standards.

  • Collaborate with program leadership, Clinical Managers, and Educational Coordinators to support academic goals.

  • Participate in curriculum development, assessment activities, and faculty meetings.


Required Qualifications

Faculty must demonstrate expertise in their subject area through education, certification, and professional experience.
Applicants must:

  • Be a graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program recognized by a national programmatic accreditation agency.

  • Hold a current credential in Surgical Technology from a certification body accredited by the National Commission on Certifying Agencies (NCCA).

  • Have a minimum of two years of recent experience as a Surgical Technologist (operating room scrub role) or as an instructor in Surgical Technology, or a combination of both, within the last five years.


Pay and Classification

Faculty members are placed in a salary grade based on qualifications:

  • Grade 2: Master’s Degree with 18 graduate hours in field – $51,934.60

  • Grade 2+: Master’s Degree with 60 graduate hours in field – $54,594.23

  • Grade 1: Doctorate in the major field – $57,255.05
