Position Summary

Davidson-Davie Community College is seeking part-time Broadband Telecommunications Instructors to teach a vocational training program at Davidson Correctional Center. This role supports inmate rehabilitation by preparing participants for employment in the telecommunications industry upon release. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical knowledge, effective communication skills, and the ability to work successfully in a correctional environment.

This position reports directly to the Division Chair, Business and Workforce Training.

Key Responsibilities

• Promote the College’s mission, values, and vision.

• Complete C-Tech Instructor Certification training and pass required exams.

• Deliver the C-Tech standardized curriculum on broadband infrastructure, fiber optics installation, and network cabling.

• Conduct hands-on, lab-based training using C-Tech’s proprietary equipment.

• Assess and evaluate student progress through exams, assignments, and practical projects.

• Maintain a safe, secure, and organized classroom/lab environment in accordance with facility policies.

• Adapt instructional strategies to meet diverse learning needs within a correctional setting.

• Mentor students toward earning C-Tech certifications and successful reentry into the workforce.

• Collaborate effectively with correctional officers and facility staff.

• Maintain accurate records, reports, attendance, and grades as per institutional policies.

• Ensure proper storage and maintenance of training equipment and supplies.

• Participate in self-evaluation to ensure ongoing instructional improvement.

• Perform additional duties as assigned to support College initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications

• At least 2 years of hands-on experience in broadband telecommunications (fiber optics, coaxial cable installation, or network troubleshooting)
  OR
  An Associate’s degree in Information or Telecommunication Technology (or a related field) from a regionally accredited institution.

• Strong oral and written communication skills.

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

• Demonstrated leadership, organizational, and teamwork abilities.

• Understanding and appreciation of the community college mission.

Preferred Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of teaching experience in a classroom or lab setting.

• Experience in mentoring or training others.

• Prior community college teaching experience is highly desirable.
