Position Overview

Lewis & Clark Community College seeks a dedicated Welding Instructor to teach and assess student learning in welding courses. The position involves developing and teaching curriculum in shielded metal arc welding, gas metal arc welding, gas tungsten arc welding, flux-cored welding, pipe welding, and related internships. The instructor will collaborate with an advisory committee to ensure ongoing program excellence and facilitate student internships within regional welding industries.


Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver learner-centered instruction in all assigned WELD courses.

  • Teach on-campus, evening, or off-campus classes as needed and maintain student-supportive office hours.

  • Participate in student learning assessments as required by accrediting agencies (e.g., HLC).

  • Develop, revise, and improve welding curriculum in collaboration with industry and academic colleagues.

  • Integrate modern instructional technologies and potentially develop online or web-enhanced courses.

  • Build and maintain strong partnerships with regional welding industries.

  • Collaborate in grant development and manage awarded welding-related grants.

  • Mentor adjunct faculty and assist in developing non-credit training programs.

  • Engage in professional development activities and maintain affiliations with national/regional welding organizations.

  • Support the College’s Mission, Vision, and strategic goals.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Education:

    • Bachelor’s degree in welding or a related field required (Master’s preferred).

  • Experience:

    • Minimum two years of college-level teaching experience in welding (preferred).

    • Minimum two years of industry experience in multiple welding processes including SMAW, GMAW, GTAW, FCAW, and pipe welding (required).

  • Other Requirements:

    • Strong commitment to the mission of community colleges.

Compensation & Benefits

Full-time faculty salaries are determined by education level and experience. The position includes an excellent benefits package.
