Position Title: Adjunct Welding Instructor


Position Summary:

Mid Michigan College is seeking qualified and dedicated individuals to join our instructional team as Adjunct Welding Instructors. We are looking for professionals who value collegiality, mutual respect, and innovation, and who are committed to fostering student success through engaging, high-quality instruction.

This position involves preparing for and teaching a range of welding courses across various learning environments — including classroom, lab, online, and field experiences such as internships, Career and Technical Education (CTE), and dual enrollment programs.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Teach assigned welding courses, emphasizing safety and environmental awareness.

  • Maintain regular office hours to assist and advise students.

  • Participate in departmental assessment of student learning outcomes at both course and program levels.

  • Maintain and organize the welding lab, ensuring safety, functionality, and readiness for instruction.

  • Utilize official departmental syllabi and ensure adherence to course learning objectives.

  • Assess and document student progress, providing timely, constructive feedback.

  • Prepare lab materials, including tools, equipment, and supplies needed for instruction.

  • Support faculty efforts to implement competency-based objectives and measurable outcomes for welding courses.

  • Maintain accurate classroom and lab records, including attendance, grades, inventory, and reports.

  • Support and uphold the college’s mission, vision, values, and student service initiatives.

  • Adhere to institutional policies, procedures, and the Teaching Profession Code of Ethics.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the department or administration.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Two years of professional experience working in a welding-related field.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Welding Certification (AWS or equivalent).

  • Prior experience teaching or training in welding or related technical disciplines.

  • Familiarity with competency-based education and hands-on instruction.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong knowledge of welding techniques, safety procedures, and instructional methods.

  • Ability to design and deliver engaging, effective course content that aligns with learning outcomes.

  • Competence in using educational technology and integrating digital tools into the classroom.

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities.

  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills, with a collaborative and professional approach to teamwork.
