Position Overview
Sierra College is currently accepting applications to build a pool of qualified Adjunct Welding Instructors for part-time teaching opportunities across multiple semesters. Positions vary based on departmental needs and may be located at any Sierra College campus.
Applications remain active for two years. The Division Dean or Department Chair will contact qualified candidates directly for interviews when openings arise.

Key Responsibilities
Instructional Delivery:

Deliver clear, engaging lectures and lab demonstrations using relevant examples, visual aids, and hands-on activities.

Present welding concepts logically, emphasizing safety, quality, and real-world applications.

Provide instructional objectives and assess student understanding through discussions and demonstrations.
Student Evaluation:
-
Develop and grade exams, projects, and assignments to measure learning progress.

Provide constructive feedback and academic guidance to help students succeed.

Refer students to college resources such as tutoring or learning centers as needed.
Curriculum & Preparation:
-
Maintain current knowledge in welding technologies and instructional methods.

Select appropriate course materials and develop supplemental resources.

Align syllabi, lesson plans, and labs to course learning outcomes.

Collaborate with full-time and adjunct faculty to ensure consistency and quality of instruction.
Professional Engagement:

Participate in departmental meetings, advisory committees, and shared governance as requested.

Support special programs, career fairs, and student engagement initiatives.

Maintain posted office hours for student support.
Minimum Qualifications
As defined by the California Community College (CCC) Minimum Qualifications Handbook:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a related field AND two (2) years of professional welding experience; OR
-
Associate degree in a related field AND six (6) years of professional welding experience; OR
-
Equivalent combination of education and experience (requires submission of a Request for Equivalency Hearing form).

Verification of prior employment may be required to confirm eligibility.

Foreign degree holders must provide U.S. transcript evaluations from approved agencies (e.g., WES, ECE).

Compensation
Placement is based on education and experience:

Lecture Rate: $77.44 – $98.98 per hour

Lab/Counselor Rate: $58.08 – $74.24 per hour

Maximum attainable salary: $127.21 (Lecture Rate) / $95.41 (Lab/Counselor Rate)
Employees also receive STRS membership, sick leave, and other benefits per the collective bargaining agreement.
