Overview

Pennsylvania College of Technology (Penn College) is seeking a qualified and passionate Full-Time Faculty Member to provide educational leadership, instruction, and student advising within the Welding and Nondestructive Testing (NDT) programs.

This faculty member will teach and evaluate students in one or more NDT disciplines, such as liquid penetrant, magnetic particle, ultrasonic, radiographic testing, and phased-array ultrasonic testing.

Qualifications

Education

  • Required: Bachelor’s degree in Welding Engineering, Welding Technology, or a closely related discipline

Licenses & Certifications

  • Preferred: ASNT Level II or III certification in RT or UT NDT methods

  • Preferred: Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) – AWS

Experience

  • Required: Minimum five (5) years of combined industrial experience in welding or nondestructive testing

  • Preferred: Teaching experience at the postsecondary level

  • Preferred: Experience with outcomes assessment and/or ABET accreditation

Skills & Abilities

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written)

  • Excellent organizational and time-management abilities

  • Demonstrated sensitivity to diversity and multicultural awareness

  • Computer literacy in discipline-related applications (preferred)

  • Valid driver’s license (preferred)


Primary Responsibilities

  • Teach and evaluate students in NDT methods such as liquid penetrant, magnetic particle, ultrasonic, radiographic, and phased-array ultrasonic testing

  • Advise and mentor students, maintaining accurate records and schedules

  • Develop, revise, and update course syllabi and instructional materials

  • Maintain regular office hours and provide academic support to students

  • Coordinate and maintain welding and NDT laboratories

  • Participate in curriculum development, program review, and outcomes assessment

  • Engage in continuous professional development and technology training

  • Serve on school and college-wide committees to support institutional goals


Additional Responsibilities

  • Instruct and evaluate students in welding disciplines such as SMAW, GMAW, GTAW, FCAW, and welding codes and procedures

  • Assist with grant proposal preparation and post-award activities

  • Contribute to college improvement through collaborative participation


Compensation

Salary is commensurate with credentials and experience according to the College’s Faculty Salary System.
For reference, the salary range for new full-time faculty in the 2025–2026 academic year is $61,969 to $79,813 per year.
