Position Summary
The Research Scientist will play a vital role in the National Crystallization Center (NCC) — a leading research facility that supports the structural biology community. The NCC advances crystallization science by providing access to cutting-edge experimental methods for macromolecular crystal generation and structure determination.
Key Responsibilities:

Oversee and manage daily NCC operations.

Develop and maintain optimization pipelines.

Collaborate with the NCC team and external researchers.

Supervise research associates and support outreach programs.

Teach in NCC workshops and present findings at conferences.
This position is ideal for a creative PhD-level scientist passionate about crystallography and eager to work in a dynamic, collaborative research environment.
Minimum Qualifications:

PhD in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a related field.

Strong expertise in crystallization methods and molecular biology.

Knowledge of macromolecular crystallography and protein biochemistry.

Excellent teamwork, organizational, and communication skills.

Ability to manage experiments and engage with the external scientific community.
Preferred Qualifications:

Experience or interest in automation and robotics for crystallization.

Familiarity with advanced X-ray crystallography techniques (screening, optimization, seeding, harvesting).
Physical Demands:

Standing during lab work.

Occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs.
