Position Summary

The Adjunct Instructor – Chemistry is responsible for delivering engaging, high-quality instruction across a range of course delivery methods — including on-ground, online, hybrid, or web-enhanced formats. The instructor will foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that supports student success and upholds the academic standards of the institution.

Essential Job Functions

• Teach assigned Chemistry courses using approved syllabi and instructional materials.

• Collaborate with course leads or program coordinators to ensure consistency in student learning experiences.

• Use the college’s Learning Management System (LMS) to post course materials and track student progress.

• Maintain timely communication — respond to emails/messages within 48 hours (except weekends).

• Complete and submit required documentation, including attendance reports, early alerts, grade submissions, and student assessments.

• Meet all college and Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR) policies, guidelines, and deadlines.

Required Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Chemistry, or

• Master’s degree in another field with 18 graduate hours in Chemistry

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior college-level teaching experience

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Experience with online and hybrid teaching methods (synchronous/asynchronous).

• Strong communication and collaboration skills across diverse student and faculty populations.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and digital learning tools.

Compensation

Rate of Pay: $650 – $740 per credit hour
