Position Summary
Eastern New Mexico University–Ruidoso seeks a full-time Science Faculty member with expertise in Biology and/or Chemistry. The position includes providing high-quality instruction in both in-person and online formats, promoting student success, and supporting ongoing development of the college’s science programs. A consistent on-campus presence is required.
Duties and Responsibilities
Typical duties include:

Teach a full load (15 credit hours) of Biology and/or Chemistry courses each semester in live and online formats.

Maintain 10 on-campus office hours per week for student support and advising.

Develop and update curricula, lesson plans, and course materials.

Integrate science concepts across disciplines to support interdisciplinary collaboration.

Assess and document student learning outcomes and competencies.
-
Maintain credentials and complete Quality Matters (QM) training; ensure online courses meet QM standards.

Participate in program and institutional assessment activities.

Oversee laboratory preparation and safety procedures.
-
Use instructional tools such as DropGuard, LMS platforms, and reporting systems.

Participate in department meetings, committees, and campus initiatives.

Engage in student recruitment, retention, and outreach.

Maintain effective communication and collaboration with students, colleagues, and the community.

Perform other duties as assigned to support the college mission.
Minimum Job Requirements

Master’s degree with at least 18 graduate hours in Biology or Chemistry.

Two years recent full-time teaching at an accredited post-secondary institution, or equivalent experience.
Preferred Qualifications
-
Community College teaching experience.

Post-secondary supervisory experience.

Online teaching and course development experience, preferably with QM certification.

Experience using multi-media and classroom technologies.

Experience in curriculum development, assessment, and improving student learning.

Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Commitment to student success and active learning.

Understanding of rural communities and their students.

Ability to provide vision and leadership for departmental programs.

Commitment to progressive, innovative, high-quality instruction.

Excellent communication skills for collaboration with the Department Chair.

Physical Demand and Working Conditions
Work occurs during normal hours, with some evenings/weekends. Work is mostly sedentary, occasionally requiring up to 25 pounds of force for lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling objects.
