Position Specifics
The Pennsylvania State University Chemistry Department seeks candidates for the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Teaching Professor depending on qualifications. Responsibilities include serving as General Chemistry Lecture Coordinator, including but not limited to:

Curriculum development
-
Selection, hiring, training, and supervision of teaching assistants (TAs)

Selection, training, and supervision of undergraduate learning assistants (LAs)
-
Organization of graded assignments, including exam planning across multiple sections
-
Course administration
-
Faculty mentoring
Additionally, candidates will coordinate with other faculty teaching related courses (e.g., general chemistry lab) and teach general chemistry and other courses as needed. General Chemistry lectures involve 12 faculty, over 30 TAs, and serve more than 3,000 students per semester.
Qualifications
Assistant Teaching Professor:
-
Terminal degree or equivalent in a relevant field; or master’s degree with demonstrated teaching and advising ability

Evidence of professional growth, scholarship, and mastery of subject matter
Associate Teaching Professor:
-
Terminal degree in a relevant field; or master’s degree with exceptional teaching and advising experience

Evidence of professional growth and mastery beyond that of assistant level
Teaching Professor:
-
Terminal degree in a relevant field
-
Exceptional teaching and advising experience at the associate level
-
Evidence of professional growth and mastery beyond the associate level
