Position Overview: VinUniversity Assistant Professorships (VAP)

The VAP is a prestigious early-career award designed to attract outstanding young researchers to VinUniversity. The program nurtures leading academics to drive high-impact research and strengthen VinUni’s global reputation.

• All candidates undergo a rigorous evaluation by an international panel of distinguished scholars.

Who We Are Looking For

Early-career researchers with exceptional academic potential, creativity, and leadership who:

• Hold a PhD, MD, or equivalent, obtained in or after 2019

• Have a strong record of research excellence (high-impact publications, awards, or recognition)

• Can lead independent and collaborative research of international significance

• Are committed to a full-time faculty appointment at VinUniversity

• Clinician scientists involved in translational or clinical research are strongly encouraged

• Eligibility extends to external applicants and VinUni faculty (joined within the last 12 months, not Full Professors)

What We Offer

Successful VAP awardees will receive:

• Competitive remuneration and faculty appointment with potential long-term contracts and leadership roles

• Start-up Research Grant:

  • STEM Experimental fields – up to USD 1,000,000 over 5 years

  • Other fields – up to USD 500,000 over 5 years

• Up to two PhD scholarships (USD 200,000 each)

• Dedicated laboratory and office space with access to advanced research infrastructure

• Institutional support for grant applications, research administration, and lab setup
