Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Personnel & Supervision:

  • Recruit, appoint, and retain faculty and staff

  • Foster a positive departmental climate

  • Recommend salaries, promotions, tenure, and reappointments

  • Assign teaching, service, and committee duties

  • Evaluate performance and support faculty development

Resource Management:

  • Manage departmental budgets and resources responsibly

  • Oversee facilities, equipment, and supply needs

Curriculum & Policy Development:

  • Collaborate with faculty to maintain strong academic programs and curricula

  • Lead strategic planning aligned with college and University priorities

Leadership & Advocacy:

  • Implement and communicate University and college policies

  • Represent and advocate for departmental needs

  • Lead departmental meetings and committees

  • Participate in professional development opportunities for chairs
