Position Overview
Colorado State University invites applications for two tenure-track faculty positions in the Department of Atmospheric Science at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. Candidates will contribute to teaching, research, and service.
Position Focus Areas:
-
Climate Dynamics – Research in physical processes governing Earth's climate through observational analyses, numerical modeling, and application of statistical/machine learning techniques.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Atmospheric Science – Integrating AI with physics- or chemistry-based models to improve Earth system understanding, prediction of extreme events, remote sensing applications, and climate variability.
Responsibilities:

Develop and maintain a strong, externally funded research program (50%)

Teach graduate-level courses (40%), advise and mentor M.S. and Ph.D. students, and develop new courses

Engage in departmental, college, and professional service activities (10%)
Qualifications
Required:
-
Ph.D. in atmospheric science or closely related field by start date

Evidence of scholarly achievement in climate dynamics or AI applied to atmospheric science

Strong oral and written communication skills
-
Demonstrated experience publishing scientific results
Preferred:
-
Vision and plan for developing an independent research program

Teaching experience and mentoring of graduate students

Record of community engagement and professional service
