Position Overview

Adjunct instructors are primarily responsible for instruction, classroom management, and student engagement. The role emphasizes academic quality, standardized procedures, attendance tracking, student support, and adherence to university policies.


Required Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Water Resource Management or a closely related field – required

  • 4–6+ years of professional experience in Marine Resources Management or directly related fields


Key Responsibilities

Instruction & Student Engagement

  • Conduct class according to scheduled times (no early dismissal)

  • Arrive 20 minutes before class fully prepared

  • Be available to students 15 minutes prior to class for assistance

  • Maintain accurate attendance records daily and weekly

  • Update grade records weekly

  • Submit final grades no later than Monday 5 PM EST following the term

  • Make phone calls to students who have been absent

  • Provide academic advising and tutor students when necessary

  • Motivate and support students in academic performance and attendance

Assessment & Documentation

  • Review and administer pre- and post-course tests where required

  • Administer surveys and assessments in relevant courses

  • Ensure accurate and organized course syllabi

  • Keep any physical student records (attendance, grades) on campus in the designated area

  • Notify the registrar of any changes in the roster

  • Prevent “do not admit” students from entering class until cleared

Administrative & Compliance

  • Attend weekly feedback meetings with an assigned administrator (Dean, Program Director, or Academic Advisor)

  • Adhere to all University policies, rules, and regulations

  • Prevent excessive class breaks

  • Maintain classroom cleanliness and order

  • Complete annual professional development plans

  • Abide by State, Federal, and University regulations regarding safety, conduct, and overall standards

  • Attend graduation ceremonies if possible
