Position Summary

The part-time Library Instructor will design and implement library activities specifically tailored for children with dyslexia in grades 1 through 8 at The Roberts Academy. This role typically operates on Thursdays and/or Fridays from 8:30 AM to 3:00 PM. The ideal candidate will be patient, enthusiastic, and dedicated to supporting student progress through creative and engaging literacy experiences.


Essential Functions

  1. Supervise students in grades 1–8 during traditional library activities.

  2. Assist students in selecting appropriate children’s books and learning materials.

  3. Plan and deliver weekly story-time sessions tailored to young learners.

  4. Collaborate with Roberts Academy faculty and staff to develop library-related programming.

  5. Create engaging library displays highlighting student work.

  6. Explore and implement initiatives that promote literacy and foster a love of reading.

  7. Support the broader mission, vision, and values of Florida Southern College by performing additional duties as needed.


Education, Work Experience, and Requirements

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Library Science, Education, or a closely related field.

  2. Ability to complete fingerprinting clearance and background screening, including Clearinghouse approval.

  3. 3–5 years of experience working with elementary and/or middle school students.

  4. A genuine interest in working within a private school environment.

  5. Demonstrates patience, enthusiasm, and commitment to student development.

  6. Strong communication skills and a professional demeanor.
