The Faculty of Education
Library and education training at HKU began in 1917, and the Faculty of Education was formally established in 1984. The Faculty is internationally recognised, ranked 3rd globally in Education (QS 2025). It plays an influential role in educational research and professional training, shaping education policy and curriculum development in Hong Kong.

The Position
Applications are invited for the role of Tenure-Track Professor / Associate Professor / Assistant Professor in Library and Information Sciences within the Faculty of Education.
Duties and Responsibilities

Teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses in:

Information technology and education

Social data science
-
Library and information management
-

Supervise postgraduate researchers
-
Actively contribute to research, publications, and knowledge exchange

Perform service and administrative duties
Candidates appointed at senior levels will additionally:

Lead interdisciplinary and collaborative research initiatives

Mentor junior academics and researchers
-
Take on high-level administrative roles
Essential Requirements
Applicants should possess:
-
A Ph.D. in Library and Information Sciences or a closely related field
-
Teaching and research expertise in any of the following:
-
Information retrieval
-
Data science
-
Learning sciences and technologies
-
Artificial intelligence applications
-
Learning analytics
-
User-centred system design
-
Information resources and services
-
-
A strong track record (or demonstrable potential) in research, publications, and securing competitive external funding
Knowledge of the local context, leadership in curriculum development, and understanding of library and information sciences in relation to education will be considered strong advantages.
