Job Description

Division: Academic
Unit: DiMenna-Nyselius Library

Basic Function:
Provides information literacy instruction to first-year composition classes.

Unusual Work Conditions:

  • Physical requirements: mobility; must be able to lift materials off shelves.

  • Requires some evening hours.

Education:

  • Graduate degree in Library & Information Science (MLS or equivalent) from an ALA-accredited program.

Essential Experience:

  • Demonstrated experience using varied techniques to engage learners.

  • Prior experience providing instruction in an academic setting highly desirable.

  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Reports To: Associate Teaching & Learning Coordinator


Essential Functions

Provides information literacy instruction to first-year composition classes, including:

  • Leading instruction sessions in the library instruction lab

  • Communicating with assigned faculty to confirm scheduling and tailor lessons

  • Participating in planning and evaluation meetings to review lessons and identify improvements

  • Developing and maintaining knowledge of Library and University resources

  • Collaborating with teaching librarians

Performs other duties, responsibilities, and activities as required by the supervisor and as departmental/University needs indicate.
