Job Purpose

The Digital Scholarship Lab (DSL) seeks a part-time adjunct faculty member to:

  • Support faculty and student research

  • Instruct and mentor student employees

  • Develop and deliver programming and workshops for digital scholarship

  • Manage lab operations, equipment, and resources

This role reports to the Digital Scholarship & Publishing Librarian and collaborates with library and campus faculty/staff.


Essential Functions

  • Train student employees as peer trainers and research consultants

  • Instruct students, faculty, and staff on DSL software and equipment

  • Develop workshops, learning resources, and outreach programs

  • Assist with lab operations, scheduling, inventory, safety compliance, and policies


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Experience with digital scholarship tools and methods

  • Advanced computer skills (e.g., Python, Arduino, R)

  • Strong customer service skills

  • Ability to work independently

  • Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud

  • Familiarity with Digital Humanities methodologies (digital mapping, text mining, data visualization, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree with digital scholarship experience

  • Previous experience in higher education with students

  • Experience with 3D printers, laser cutters, microcomputing

  • Lab safety knowledge and maintenance of instruments

  • Familiarity with CAD software (Blender, Autodesk Fusion, etc.)

  • Experience in project management


Physical & On-Campus Requirements

  • Presence: On-site 5 days/week

  • Standing/Sitting: >75% of the time

  • Walking: >75% of the time

  • Lifting/Carrying: 50%-75% of the time

  • Attention to Detail & Problem-Solving: Daily, >75% of time
