Position Overview
The Instructor in Science Education will teach upper-level courses in Life and Earth Sciences for PreK-12 teachers, participate in departmental and college committees, advise and mentor students, and assist with program assessment. Opportunities may include supervising outreach and training activities with local K-12 schools.
Key Responsibilities

Teach upper-level Life and Earth Sciences courses focused on content and pedagogy for PreK-12 teachers

Advise and mentor students, especially in the Teacher Education Program

Serve on departmental and college committees

Assist with assessment and other departmental duties

Potentially supervise or conduct outreach/training with local schools

Promote engaged and innovative teaching practices at the undergraduate level
Required Qualifications

Master’s or Doctoral degree in Science Education or a closely related field

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Ability to teach innovatively and engage students at the undergraduate level
Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Virginia Standards of Learning

Teaching experience in PreK-12 school settings
