Position Overview

The College of Information Science is seeking multiple tenure-eligible Assistant Professors with expertise in artificial intelligence (AI), specifically in:

  • AI-driven cybersecurity or cyber operations

  • Trustworthiness, explainability, or fairness in AI

The successful candidates will contribute to research, teaching, and service in the college, and will maintain an active research agenda in AI-related fields.


Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain an active research agenda in artificial intelligence

  • Secure internal and external funding for research programs

  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in information science and/or cyber science

  • Advise and mentor students, including supervising dissertations

  • Provide service to academic and professional communities

  • Support college and university initiatives


Required Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Information Science, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Cybersecurity, or a related field (completed before start date)

  • Recent AI-related publications in respected venues

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong publication record in AI with a promising research agenda

  • Expertise in AI-driven cybersecurity or cyber operations, or in trustworthiness, explainability, or fairness in AI

  • Experience in external funding proposal writing

  • Recognized by the research community (awards, honors)

  • Experience teaching at undergraduate and/or graduate levels

  • Mentoring experience for students, peers, and colleagues

  • Outreach experience engaging with communities, businesses, or schools

  • Collaborative experience across disciplines and backgrounds

  • Rank: Assistant Professor

  • FLSA: Exempt

  • Hours: 40/week
