Location: Ithaca, NY and Cornell Tech, NYC (must reside with faculty mentor)
Salary: $62,232 – $88,745 per year

Programs Overview

Empire AI Fellows Program – Supports applied AI research at Cornell Tech (NYC) and Bowers College of Computing (Ithaca). Focuses on transformative AI research, leveraging shared compute resources.

Foundational AI Fellows Program – Supports foundational AI research at Ithaca and Cornell Tech. Areas include:

  • AI & machine learning

  • Computer vision

  • Natural language processing

  • AI-enabled science

Both programs encourage pioneering research that transforms AI paradigms and supports next-generation AI technologies.


Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct independent AI research under guidance of Cornell faculty mentor

  • Contribute to foundational and applied research in AI/ML

  • Participate in a collaborative research community across Cornell campuses


Required Qualifications

  • Ph.D. or equivalent by the start of the fellowship

  • Demonstrated potential for transformative AI research

  • Ability to work on-site with faculty mentor
