Position Description

The Department of Mathematics at WKU seeks to appoint a full-time, non-tenure-track Instructor I. This is a nine-month faculty role, renewable annually based on performance. The appointment begins August 10, 2026.

The successful candidate will teach a variety of undergraduate mathematics courses. Depending on qualifications, they may also teach courses in mathematics education and/or statistics. Candidates with a terminal degree in mathematics or a closely related field may be considered for teaching graduate-level courses.


Core Responsibilities

Teaching

  • Deliver effective instruction in undergraduate mathematics courses ranging from introductory to advanced levels.

  • Teach graduate-level courses if holding appropriate terminal qualifications.

Curriculum Development

  • Prepare course materials, assignments, lessons, and assessments.

Student Support

  • Provide timely feedback, maintain office hours, and support student academic success.

Service

  • Engage in departmental, college, university, and community service activities.


Minimum Requirements

  • Earned master’s degree in mathematics or a closely related discipline, with at least 18 graduate credit hours in mathematics prior to employment.

  • Evidence of successful teaching experience.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with faculty colleagues.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Demonstrated commitment to creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
