Position Overview

The Department of Mathematics and Systems Engineering at Florida Institute of Technology invites applications for a non-tenure track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level. This is a three-year, 9-month contract with the possibility of renewal based on performance.

The department seeks candidates who:

  • Have an outstanding record and strong interest in teaching a diverse student body.

  • Are capable of designing curriculum and instruction for mathematics courses.

  • Can clearly communicate in the classroom with an understanding of curricular objectives and student needs.

Teaching load: Up to four undergraduate courses per semester.
Experience with teaching innovation tools is a plus.


Responsibilities

  • Teach up to four undergraduate courses per semester using modern instructional techniques.

  • Integrate technology (interactive software, digital resources) to enhance learning and promote active participation.

  • Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages critical thinking, problem-solving, and mathematical exploration.

  • Mentor and advise students to help achieve their academic and career goals.


Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Mathematics or a related field.

  • Demonstrated expertise in teaching Calculus to undergraduate students in engineering and science majors.

  • Proficiency with technology, including interactive whiteboards, graphing calculators, mathematical software (e.g., MATLAB, Python), and online learning platforms.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage students from diverse backgrounds.

  • Commitment to innovative teaching methods and enhancing student engagement.
