Position Overview

The College seeks an Instructor to teach undergraduate and graduate mathematics courses for engineering students. Titles offered depend on experience: Assistant, Associate, or Full Teaching Professor.

  • Teaching load: Up to 6 courses per academic year, each requiring 3–4 lecture hours and 2 office hours per week over a 15-week term.

  • Supervise student Teaching Assistants for grading, recitations, and other duties.

  • Participate in curriculum development, committee service, course evaluations, and other institutional activities.

  • No research responsibilities are required, though collaboration with faculty is encouraged if desired.


Remuneration and Benefits

  • Base salary starts at ¥380,000 per year for Assistant Teaching Professors (adjusted for experience).

  • Chinese social security, fringe benefits, and standard medical insurance provided.

Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree in Mathematics, Physics, or related fields.

  • Native-level English proficiency; native speakers preferred.

  • Minimum two years of postdoctoral or teaching experience after earning a doctoral degree.

  • Teaching experience in undergraduate and/or graduate mathematics, including:

    • Single- and multivariable calculus

    • Differential equations

    • Linear algebra

  • Preferred experience in specialized subjects such as probability, statistics, numerical analysis, or discrete mathematics.

  • Experience with computer algebra systems or a background in physics, computer science, or engineering is advantageous.

  • Willingness to commit to teaching in Shanghai for multiple years.
