Salary: $55,000 – $70,000 per year (commensurate with experience)

Department Overview

  • Department of Mathematics, College of Natural Sciences.

  • ~150 undergraduate majors and 65 graduate students.

  • 30 tenured/tenure-track faculty with diverse research interests: algebra, analysis, combinatorics, differential equations, geometry, inverse problems, math education, mathematical modeling, number theory, scientific computing, topology, and applications.

Position Summary

  • Conduct independent research under mentorship of a faculty research group.

  • Expected teaching load: up to 3 courses/year (dependent on funding), including service and major courses.

  • Opportunities to transition to Research Scholar or Research Scientist positions post-postdoc based on grant funding and departmental needs.

  • Collaboration with other departments and universities encouraged.


Responsibilities

Research (60%):

  • Pursue independent research objectives.

  • Participate in research group meetings, seminars, and present results.

  • Collaborate with colleagues within CSU and externally.

Teaching (40%):

  • Teach a mix of service courses and courses for mathematics majors.

  • Up to 3 courses/year as assigned by department chair.

  • Coordinate courses and/or teach large classes (preferred).


Qualifications

Required:

  • PhD in Mathematics or a related science field by date of hire.

Preferred:

  • 2+ years university-level teaching experience.

  • Experience teaching service and graduate mathematics courses.

  • Experience as a course coordinator or teaching large classes (75+ students).
