Position Summary

Postdoctoral Position in Theoretical Nuclear/Hadronic Physics

The Nuclear Theory Group in the Department of Physics at Indiana University Bloomington (IU) invites applications for a postdoctoral research position under the supervision of Dr. Sebastian Dawid.

  • Start Date: As early as August 1, 2026 (flexible)

  • Initial Term: Two years, with possible extension to a third year based on performance and funding

The IU Nuclear Theory Group comprises four faculty members, several postdoctoral researchers, and graduate students. Research areas include:

  • Hadronic amplitude analysis and scattering theory

  • Heavy-ion collisions and properties of hot QCD matter

  • Hadronic probes of beyond-the-Standard-Model physics

  • Formal developments in lattice QCD


Basic Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in theoretical high-energy or nuclear physics required by the time of appointment

  • Research experience in one or more relevant areas is preferred:

    • Lattice QCD

    • Effective field theory

    • Hadronic/nuclear scattering


Responsibilities

  • Conduct high-quality research in theoretical nuclear and hadronic physics

  • Collaborate with faculty, postdoctoral researchers, and graduate students

  • Present results at conferences and contribute to publications
