Position: Assistant Professor – Chemistry & Physics (Forensic Chemistry)
Type: Full-Time, Tenure-Track
Location: Cape Girardeau, Missouri
Department: Chemistry & Physics, College of Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics
Start Date: August 1, 2026
Salary: Depends on qualifications

Position Overview

  • Teach forensic chemistry and other chemistry courses at both introductory and advanced levels.

  • Support the forensic chemistry program through curriculum development, advising, internships, and career development.

  • Build a research program involving undergraduate students.

  • Participate in departmental, college, and university service, including committees, public outreach, student recruitment, and retention.

  • Contribute to innovative curriculum delivery using traditional, blended, and online formats.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Forensic Chemistry or related chemistry field (Analytical, Biochemistry, Organic, etc.) by August 2026.

  • Demonstrated potential for undergraduate research mentorship.

  • Experience teaching at college/university level.

  • Leadership potential in forensic chemistry programs.

  • Strong collaboration, communication, and collegiality skills.

  • Commitment to student success within the teacher-scholar model.
