Job Description
The College of Engineering’s Department of Civil and Mechanical Engineering invites applications for a full-time tenure-track faculty position in Biomedical Engineering at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor.

The successful candidate will support the ABET-accredited B.S. degree program in Biomedical Engineering, contribute to rapidly expanding graduate programs (including a Ph.D. in development), and collaborate across SUNY Poly’s four academic pillars:

  • Healthcare & Wellbeing

  • Materials, Robotics & Advanced Manufacturing

  • AI and Information Technology

  • Smart Infrastructure and Sustainability

Responsibilities include:

  • Teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in biomedical engineering and lower-division engineering sciences (lecture and lab).

  • Developing and maintaining curricula.

  • Establishing an externally funded research program involving undergraduate and graduate students.

  • Advising students and supporting student organizations.

  • Collaborating with faculty to maintain ABET accreditation.

  • Contributing to university committees, outreach, and service.

  • Developing industry, government, and academic partnerships.

  • Supporting departmental growth in undergraduate and graduate education.

During the first two years, a reduced teaching load (two classes per semester) will be provided to support research development and course creation.

Salary Range

  • Assistant Professor: $90,000 – $100,000

  • Associate Professor: $100,000 – $110,000

  • Full Professor: $110,000+

Minimum Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering or a closely related field from an accredited institution.

  • Record of academic and scholarly achievements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Postdoctoral experience with proven research and scholarship.

  • Teaching experience at the collegiate level.

  • Research interests aligned with SUNY Poly’s strategic focus areas.
